Lots of playing

19 May

Our days basically consist of lots of playing, laughing, and being silly.   Here are some photos of our recent adventures:

img_1322I am a huge fan of corn dogs and Ami had her first one recently – I loved watching her eat!

We’ve had some great warm weather days so we’ve been playing outside a lot…since we don’t have a front yard that means we play mostly in our driveway…and as a result Amalea got her first skinned knee.  She just keeps pointing at it and saying “ouch”, but I keep telling her it’s a “big girl ouchie”.

Amalea has been blabbering away and though a lot of it still doesn’t make any sense she does have quite a few incredibly clear words.  This video captures a few of our favorite words (fyi – lionel is her buddy at daycare).  And yes, she does run into the camera at the end – woops.

Hair do time

9 May

We have tried multiple times to put Amalea’s hair up in a ponytail or pigtails or even a simple clip, but she HATES it.  She usually throws a fit and won’t let us even touch her hair.  This isn’t a huge problem except that Amalea has got some crazy hair that could use some taming at times.  Today she finally let us put her hair in pigtails and a clip!!  She looked adorable and even a bit older.

Smiles in the midst of trouble

2 May

breakdownThis is why children are so great…even when something is going wrong they don’t completely understand and they continue to be happy and remind us to enjoy life.  The other day at work I checked my phone just before class started and I had multiple text messages from Jim telling me he had run out of gas on the way to dropping Amalea off at daycare.  Before you think that Jim is silly for letting the car run out of gas, understand it was not his fault at all.  The gas gauge in our van only works sometimes so most of the time you don’t know how much gas you have.  Needless to say, we need a new car!!  Anyway, one of the text messages was the picture above.  Jim and Amalea were having a blast playing in the van waiting for our friend Dustin to come rescue them.  I love it, but not enough to give up my want of a new vehicle (with a gas gauge that works).
